"From Overworked to Overflowing: How Love Redefines Strength in Adversity"

Dear Cherished Reader,

For much of my life, I wore the badge of “workaholic” as a symbol of devotion to my family. My endless hours of labor were meant to create a life of security, stability, and freedom from worry—a haven where my family could thrive. I believed that my hard work was the ultimate expression of my love, a shield against life’s uncertainties.

But when tragedy struck—uninvited and earth-shattering—it tore through everything I had built. The home I worked so hard to make a sanctuary became a place of grief. I found myself powerless to undo the pain, unable to protect my family from the storm that engulfed us. My efforts as a provider felt hollow in the face of loss, and I questioned whether all my striving had made any difference at all.

It was in this despair that I discovered a deeper truth. My work may have been my way of showing love, but love itself is the foundation that never crumbles. It’s not measured by hours logged or goals achieved—it’s the force that carries us when everything else falls away.

Even in the darkest moments, love remains. It takes over when we feel helpless, guiding us through pain and offering the strength to rise. It reminds us that, as mothers, our covering is never removed. We continue to protect, nurture, and lead—not by fixing everything, but by being present, resilient, and unwavering in our hope.

Adversity taught me that love is the most profound work of all. It’s what gives us the courage to face life’s storms, to comfort those we cherish, and to trust ourselves to find light in the darkness. Through love, we find enduring strength, uncovering the power to lead our families through tragedy with unwavering grace and renewed purpose.

With enduring hope and love,

LaTanya Black
